A couple of year's ago I did a Bible Study called "No Other Gods". Here's some ideas that really stuck with me and I made reminders of...enjoy.
The point is that it doesn't matter if you have it all and get everything your heart desires, or if you're left wanting and unloved...Neither works.... God must be the ultimate thing.
Good thinks like husbands and children and social status were the ultimate things (Rachel and Leah -Genesis 30-31), and in the end they were not enough.
Sometimes I fight an overwhelming need to explain my decisions when really the best thing to do is simply rest quietly in my convictions with the Lord.
The desired end is to make room for the one and only God. When our hearts are overly attached or dependent on lessor things, we crowd God out of our lives.
Are we afraid to find out who God really is? Are we content with how things are and too afraid of what might happen if we play?
...we don't have the power in ourselves to dismantle the idols of our hearts...God deals with our idols when he deals with our hearts.
Great study...I would recommend it to anyone.
