Simple Things

Lately....I've been very selfish.  It's so difficult to balance work, family and friend parts of life.  I don't often take time anymore to just be still there's always a mouth to feed, some chore that needs done, or I'm just too plain exhausted to do anything...and I crawl into bed for some rest.

Yesterday I was sitting at the Target parking lot on Taylorsville Rd...waiting out my lunch break sitting in my car...and I was watching two squirrels digging in the dirt and brush.  I think it's kind of funny this time of year the number of holes you find around the yard, beside the sidewalk, from these little creatures trying to remember "Where did I put my nuts?"   They would go from spot to spot in search of this treasure of food.  Well, you knew it had to happen at some point...one of the squirrels found a nut that was buried....When he found it, he had this expression I can only imagine a human would have after winning the lottery.  As soon as he found the nut he took off in the opposite direction of the other squirrel still searching.   He looked back to make sure he wasn't being followed and began his feast.

I say all of this to say, I feel like a squirrel.

I can go digging around in search of something that would satisfy my hunger ... when I already have the one True thing that does satisfy...I just kind of forget sometimes...kinda like forgetting where I buried my nuts.

Thank you Jesus for having a good and perfect plan for my life, you give us a guidebook for life.  May I continue to seek and find more of the treasures in that guidebook.

A very large project...

When we moved into our house there was this large forsythia..that was a size of our old house...over the past few months Donnie and I have been attacking this thing.  The remaining of the branches we havent burned are pictured below.  We came to the realistic conclusion this weekend that we need professional help.

So we called a local tree, brush removal...and he's coming this week!!!!! Yea almost no looking at a brush pile the size of our shed.
