The world of Schwartz

December 4, 2010
After a day of spending time with those I work with, our company had our "holiday" party at the Standard Country Club.   The theme of the night was "The Love Boat" meets "Survivor". What does that mean?  Well, it means there was show made of staff members and their spouses (if they were brave enough) while we journeyed on our cruise. Props go to my strong and brave husband as he and another husband performed "I've got you babe" by Sonny and Cher.  Donnie was Sonny.

The night continues to the Survivor theme--I guess our boat crashed.  Needless to say I got voted off the island quickly.  But one of the games we played consisted of bidding with our money on mystery prizes.  Currency consisted of toothpicks, a couple of beans and a match.  My husband in his excitement bid for this lovely prize.

Needless to say everyone had a great time and thank you Schwartz for having a great Christmas party when some companies have forgotten the little things.

Assembly Hall

This weekend was my birthday and as much as I don't like getting older...I still absolutely love my birthday. It is one of my favorite times of the year. This year to celebrate my mother-in-law bought me a ticket to see the UK vs IU basketball game at Assembly Hall.  So myself and 3 UK fans drove up on Saturday to enjoy a new experience.  I grew up watching IU basketball, still love Bobby Knight as a coach and his graduation rate, and think that the movie "Hoosiers" is so true of the state of Indiana.

Needless to say, despite the loss, I had a great time. Our seats where in the balcony, section DD row 11 and on the aisle in the middle.  For holding over 15,000 people it still seemed a intimate setting to watch basketball due to the design.  One thing I noticed I found very refreshing was the lack of advertising; as IU owns their basketball arena the only advertisements where on the circular marque on the speakers in the middle of the court. Everything else was all able IU Basketball..the tradition, the past and the future.
